For anyone interested, there is a great article in this month's issue of Micro mart magazine. Regarding the Amiga's future and how the PS3 is alot like the Amiga A500.

Im sure I compared the PS3 to the Amiga the other day and one of you had a go at me, probably Horace. PS3 is a fully fleged computer now, or as Sony would say, a Home Entertainment System. I could spend all day listing the similaritys...
What are you looking at?

Hungry Horace

not me - even the PS2 is apparently a lot like the amiga to program.

EmuChicken

uh
uuh...

the ps3 has no keyboard! - or floppy drive!

Hungry Horace

floppy drive = blue ray / memory card reader

keyboard = usb keyboard

i suspect its more about the similarities in coding for it though

Your all incorrect, it actually states "That the hardware setup is more like the A500". i.e. CPU & coprocessor, custom type chipset. Basically it was designed alot like the way amiga's were. They also talk about a possible OS 5 and PS3 partnership, where a PS3 would be running Amiga OS 5 as its Operating System. They go on to say that even some of the PS3 development team regard the PS3 as the modern Amiga.

This is all because of SONY's ties to Amiga when making the CD32.

No... please.

AmigaOS already had problems returning on the scene, after the demise of Commodore... Don't make it happen again with PS3, one of the most pricey and less sold home console in the history :P It would be a risky and surely stupid thing to do.

Some analyst even say that PS3 will have to stop production soon, because there are too much consoles on stock, and too few console sold.

lol, think i care, if SONY cant market right, thats their problem, they have priced themselves out of the market, gambling on the fact everyone will buy it cause of the Blueray. I have to disagree, im a big fan of Amiga OS. I still rather have something like the old Workbench 3.1 (best OS imo). Very easy to use and doesnt crash.

i'd buy a PS3 if it ran OS5 and OS5 ran whdload.... hehe

so not gonna happen though.... Amiga as a modern company is a joke, and would basicially needed to be taken over by Sony in order to ever actually deliver anything.

Sorry FOL, I think you misunderstood me. ;) I said that it would be BAD for AmigaOS, not for Sony :)
I don't care much for Sony except for the fact they created a good handheld where I can play the GREAT Amiga. :)

Even I would like to have Workbench now, and not Win :) Never seen a crash, in all the times I used it.
I'm a GREAT Amiga fan myself, and so, I'm a GREAT Amiga OS too :)

FOL

Ah, i thought you ment the other way round, lol.

Horace, I wish I had a scanner to scan the article, cause Amiga Inc is in the process of a deal to make 2 GHz PPC with possible OS 5.

wow - this is turning into eab or amiga.org or something!!

Amiga treated Hyperion like shit, they have had years of work put into os4, but the only reason a release never happened when expected (or wanted)  is becuase amiga havent got a clue what they are doing....

and now they have the cheek to try and sue hyperion for wanting to release it!
