Is it possible to assign the directions of the Pad to the buttons?

I've just been trying to play Stunt Car Racer with the pad and it's just too damn hard trying to push up for acceleration while also pushing left/right to steer.  Would be ace to be able to assign Pad Up to X thus making steering a hell of a lot easier.

I know what you mean.

Just realised it would also be handy to be able to reconfigue the pad as well.  Just had a look at Pinball Dreams and realised the pad would be good to map the tilt function too while the buttons control the flippers.
