Even though, Im working on uae4all2-HD-Vita port to PSP.
I have start working on something that bugged me since I was a kid.

Dune is one of my favorite games (not DuneII), the point and click adventure type one.
So it annoyed me, the sega cd got a talkie version. So I have started working on a talkie version for Amiga.
With help of the openarakis site online, which is a reversed engineered version of PC DOS CD version.
As it uses same tools and file structures, Im hoping I can add speech samples to amiga exe.
I currently have speech tables worked out of all file naming and how it decides and triggers.

In a comment on Amiga disrupt, I posted a quick video of one of my early attempts.
Basically, its one sample, the first speech in game "Im duke leto Atreides".
At present, it loads game like normal, music plays, you start game, click the duke and audio level drops and speech plays, speech ends, audio level goes back to normal.
We hijack 2 audio channels to play sample, then return them to paula after. Its almost playing speech correctly, just have a stuttering issue to resolve.

I can believe it  ;D

One of the reasons I dusted my good old PSP was to play again with DUNE on the PSPUAE!

Everybody always talks about how fantastic DuneII is , but DUNE I on the Amiga seemed to be almost forgotten...

That game was so immersive, actually lead to me to read the books and become I huge fan of all the franchise.

It so refreshing knowing that I was not the only one that preferred the first over the second.

Can't way to play it again on PSPUAE.

Thanks!

Proving harder than I hoped. Got it to trigger one speech file at right time, etc etc. Just memory is issue, im trying  to keep it to 1MB RAM. Until I sort mem, all I have at moment, is sample stuttering, not finishing correctly.

Interesting fact. Virgin dumped Cryo before Dune was finished. They decided to go with Westwood and DuneII.
However Cryo won them over with finished game and it was released, glad they did, :).

Will keep at it, got lots done on pspuae v2 though, very impressed by it, why we never switched source many moans ago, I will never know.
