Quote from: FOL on February 24, 2008, 10:38:35 PMMore info would be nice,

memory errors, i have'nt had 1, even when loading 11mb states, over and over. If your setting memto maxium, you will need to turn off Background menu pic.

Ah, thanks... I'll try that out and see if it stops.

And more info about what, exactly? If you mean about T3, the frameskip wildly varies... an improvement over 0.63, where it was a constant 8.
And with the sound, less crackling and such, as in 0.63.

Ah, no problems then, :).

Odd it isnt working here and im using same eboot, but firmware is diff, but thats not the issue. I dont know what the problem is then, if the download here doesnt work and a compile from 0.63 source dont work.
Can you email me the adf and eboot your using, please

mail is on its way. thanks for the effort!

Got it, your EBOOT is different, where did you download it from, cause its different from source and release eboot. Your adf now gets to title screen, then sits there, cant do anything, but on your eboot it works.

3 of us worked on 0.63 source, and as thats the source i based 0.70 on, i dont have a clue where the problem could lie. Its strange your eboot is not the same as release eboot. My guess is the source was modified before upload to server, that is the only thing that can explain it not working with a fresh compile. Also seems odd thats its only 1 game broken.

Thats strange, I defintely downloaded it either from the download section here or from qj.net.

It is indeed, what i will do is finish the work im doing on sound (fixed sound bug), just trying some stuff on sound code.

Then ill check the 062 source against the 063 source, and see if i can find out exactly what was changed. I know 063, had the optimized blitter code.

Maybe its that causing problem, but I wont know til I have a look.
Ill also check to if i have a backup of the original 0.63 source, thin I have it on a backup dvd.

Thanks FOL, I was going to post on that Sound Bug :) In Terry's Big Adventure it's pretty annoying ;)

By the way, I have some problems with the new Frameskip logic... Terry's Big Adventure worked great in 0.63 with Chipset 100%, with autoFS skipping only 1-2 frames. Now in 0.70 it's on 30-40 most of the time!  :o

And by manually setting it to FS 2-3 the game it's uber-slow... Any ideas?

BTW, thanks for the hard work ;D

Hungry Horace

the numbering system for frameskip is now totally different. 30-40 would be the same as about 1-3 on old frameskip.

the number is now the number of frames dropped per second. e.g. 25fs is 25 frames (of 50) dropped every second.... the same as old FS 1.

this allows for more more detail in frameskip numbers as we approach fullspeed. (25 values between 0-25 instead of 0-1 on old fs logic)

Horace is right, I should have mentioned this in more detail. It was just a mad rush come Saturday night, :).

Ric's Frameskip logic works exactly as Horace has stated. It deals in Frames Per Second, and gives a much finer adjustment.

i think i'll do a newspost about this when i get home, and explain the conversion numbering, to give people a gauge as to what numbers to expect.

RISS version of Great Giana Sisters seems fine.

Goldrunner is also without any glitches.

I wont be releasing 0.70 RISS versions though, becuase of the config saving bug.

This helps me, as it means there is nothing wrong with the code relating to the gfx side of things. I suspect, its a disk code problem. I will investigate further, onec I get chance.

perhaps if you break the floppy support even more - even more people will use the RISS?  :D

as i said, it doesnt happen on the RISS version. You have the boot disk - why not just use it? this shouldnt be an issue to you anymore.

it was a joke. The floppy drives are needed to install the RISS anyway.

OK, I have managed to find a perfect backup of 063 source, which works fine with giana sisters. So i will start from scratch with this as a base, and include the fixes for the bugs i have fixed. Proberly will take a few days, to re-add the changes I made.

Real nice work.  The Populous screen on the XMB menu is nice too with the lil animated icon, though I do kinda miss the Project X music.  No big deal though.  Am glad to have donated and look forward to more improvements in the future.  :)
