Just want to say fantastic work on PSPUAE.

Just wondering whether it's possible to speed up the floppy disk loading. It seems like the floppy disk reading/loading is emulated and hence takes years to load.

Or is there a way to load them off some virtual Amiga hard disk? I just came across something called WHDLoad. Is this the amiga hard disk images? Can PSPUAE load them?

Rumor says that there will be a PSPUSE Hard Drive mode soon, or something like that, seperate from the PC's WHDLoad.

For now just use the RISS save-states in the downloads section.

3.90M33 PSP Phat

0.63 PSPUAE

1GB Pro Duo Memory Stick

No Loaders Just CFW

Real AMIGA = A500+ Cartoon Classics Pack

Run AMIGA HD via R.I.S.S. Saves on 1GB Card with CFW in PSPUAE.

Runs PSPUAE on the non overdumped AF Roms.

Use A1200 most of the time on PSPUAE because of R.I.S.S.

FYI guys,  WHDLoad is > not < a hard-disk image or anything like that.

WHDLoad is simply an Amiga Program, which allows many old floppy-only games to be run on an Amiga HD, provided somebody has coded the appropriate installer for the game.

Technically WHDLoad has nothing to do with emualtion, or HardFiles. I use whdload-installed games on my real A1200 HD, but i also emualte the same setup (using PC folders mounted as emulated-HDs) on WinUAE for convinence and speed.  I also use the WHDload program and installers on PSPUAE, but running from the Amiga's RAM disk, since there is no HD support on PSPUAE.

i've corrected Evolution's post to be a little clearer about our "alternative" to HD support, in the form of the RISS.

information about what WHDload installers are avaiable, and information about the program itself can be found on www.whdload.de

I dont know where you got the idea there will be "HD support soon" on PSPUAE Evolution. Certainly none of the dev's here have suggested that. We are patiently waiting for some big fixes to the e-uae HD support before it can even be looked at.

also, andrewwan1980;  i assume you have tried setting floppy speed to "turbo" in the drive options? (if you are determinded to use ADFs, or is there is no RISS available for the game you want to play)

You say you emulate the same setup using PC folders mounted as emulated HDs on WinUAE. You mean putting WHDLoad-installed games in PC folders and mount as a HD in WinUAE? Does this load games much faster? If you can do this with WinUAE, can you do this with PSPUAE? Also, do we have to convert floppy disk games into WHDLoad? How? Also, is it true that virtually all Amiga games back in the 1990s run off floppies only???

And yes, even Turbo option for floppy drive is still slow. Is there not a way to super/instantly load games of floppy?

RISS? You mean those save state files in the Downloads section? Are they just basically normal PSPUAE save states that I (or anyone) could've created? Do save states also contain the entire AMIGA setup, chipset, RAM, ROM, etc too? That means we should have all 1.3, 2.0 & 3.1 ROMs installed too?

I just found the article about RAM-Installed Save-States. Do I need the original ADFs to use RISS?

FOL

1, YES.
2, No, HD is not faster than RAM (We just use RAM as if it were a HDD).
3, YES, as pointed out before, http://www.whdload.de.
4, YES, as nearly all floppies contained copy protection, they were never ment to run for HD.
5, Turbo option is the best we have, and YES, it does load faster. Are you using CPU speed on CHIPSET? if so, it will slow floppy loading right down. Test, I carried out, was Xenon2. Loaded in 30 secs with standard and with turbo, it loaded in just under 16 secs.
6, YES, R.I.S.S. is the name given to the custom made savestates for PSPUAE.
7, YES anyone can make them, theres even a guide, hint hint.
8, Do you mean state config, or everything, PSPUAE, Kickroms etc etc. If that is what you mean, then no, again already posted that the kickroms are still copyrighted.

thanks FOL.

some of those questions were actually answered in what was quoted!

eg. "If you can do this with WinUAE, can you do this with PSPUAE?"
where the quote clearly said "there is no HD support on PSPUAE"

yas FOL pointed out there is a -basic- guide for making RISS yourself, although i am going to be doing a more in-depth one, on the agreement that people who use it post their save-states & configs for us all to use.

there is not much point in installing the HD games yourself from floppies, since most can be found pre-installed at:

www.whdownload.com
or
www.guildserver.co.uk/kgwhd

if they arent there, and they have an installer, you will need to obtain the IPF version (not the ADF versions) and install them using WinUAE set up for HD emulation.
