What assigns are needed in the startup-sequence to get amos running.
Simply assigning amos_pro to the appropriate dir doesen't work apparantly.

If you are using the .ADF files from the download directory here on the Amos Factory webpage, you need to run the AmosPro_System: drive with write-protect enabled. This will allow you to personalize your copy of AmosPro. It will not install if you do not do this. Once this is done you can use the installer application that comes with AmosPro to install to a hardfile. If you MUST access it from .ADFs directly, I'd recommend you use the automatic disk-swapper of WinUAE. (I'm assuming you're using WinUAE.)
If you are using a real Amiga the same rules apply but with real disks.
If you are trying to make a bootable disk with an application on it, I'd recommend you download all of the update disk images until you get to AmosPro version 2.0 which includes the compiler. The libraries needed by the compiled application will be the IEEE math libraries, diskfont.library, and possibly a few others from Libs:. You'll need the keymap from devs: I think, and system-configuration from wherever that is.
Can you tell us more about the configuration of your system or what you are trying to do?

I'm using various configurations of WinUAE. I'm simply trying to install Amos to a hardrive file. It worked before with AIAB, but I can't remember how I did it.
I've located the Amos directory in "Work:development/Amos/Amos_pro/".
I thought it was a matter of a simple assign, but I might be wrong.
Oh yeah, I haven't installed it as such, but rather copied it from a previous AIAB setup as I couldn't get the downloads from this site to work, it always ends up as 0kb files on my harddrive, and my original adfs are lost apparantly but then I've never been the "let's-tidy-things-up" type so they could still be around somewhere.

I've verified the download problems and emailed the master administrator of the website. It may just be a server problem. The files are there but the logs show a "permission denied" message for each attempt.

Ive fixed the files, but not sure what you mean on this "Permission Denied". Is that on the FTP account or in the downloads section.
If its FTP, drop me an email with your user and pass for FTP and ill check it out further.

You shouldn't need to set up any assigns. As long as the file structure is the same as on the AMOS Pro disk it will run from harddrive no problem. I have installed AMOS Pro onto my laptop for use with WinUAE in this way with no problems at all. The only time problems will occur is when trying to use the help system (it will ask for the help disk) since it was installed by AMOS's install program.
If you need AMOS extensions then check out the extensions thread in the submissions forum. (I still have to add the Databench extension).

When I installed Amos Pro and the upgrades on my emulated Amiga (Amiga Forever/WinUAE). I just inserted the adf drives and ran the Install to hard drive program. AMOS did all the rest. When it came time to switch the floppies, I just hit F12 and browsed to the next ADF files. It couldn't have been easier. No Assigns were necessary. The same held true for installing the 1.12 and 2.0 upgrades.

Yeah, thats true if you are using ADF's, but I have my original Amiga harddrive (from 2006) burned to CD my a fellow Amiga enthusiast (I don't have a CD drive conncted to mine).
