Will try and update this post this weekend.
Doh a month on, will certainly try and get it sorted.

As the PS3 and PSP have been completely hacked, and can run sign code with any emu, app, etc etc.

When you have the PSP master key.
Will it takes long time to make the PSP UAE work on official firmware?
And are you going to make PSP UAE work on official firmware ?

Basically whats happened so far is that the root keys for the PSP Go/3000 and the PS3 have been found, which means people can write homebrew which will work on Official Firmware, without the need to install Custom Firmware on your PSP system. I'm unclear how this works on the PS3, at the moment it looks like you need to jailbreak your PS3 regardless of whether they have the keys or not, but it has made it much easier and paved the way for the PS3 to be similar to the PSP in terms of homebrew.

actually geoHot has released a custom firmware for the PS3's latest (3.55) which patches it to allow (signed) homebrew to be installed. Once the signing is done on the old software (for which tools have been released to do this) there is no need for a dongle with this method, as it is all signed to work off offical f/w

cool are there any downsides to using cfw?

i havent started using it yet - i'm waiting for things to settle down a little, and see who takes the lead.

state of play (as of today) is that another patch has come along for 3.55 which enables the peek/poke syscalls - these are vital for running "backups" although some of the backup managers need updating to take advantage of this.

This same patch can also work alongside Geohot's 3.55 "CFW patch" which enables the installation/running of signed homebrew.

I dont really get why a CFW isnt being made that runs unsigned code though... maybe in time even that will happen.

There is no downside yet (other than that a lot of the homebrew already made needs signing, although the major-players have all been signed today), i guess we need to see what Sony's reaction is and whether the hackers can fight against possible PSN blacklisting / banning.

Uh i have no doubt if Sony starts banning people then hackers will get around it, they did with the Xbox 360 using Xlink or whatever its called, and Nintendo just don't bother with the Wii. They even warn people not to update if they have homebrew on as it might damage the system. xD

Aye holding back sounds good for now, see what Sony do, if a hack gets stopped, i don't think Sony are above releasing a patch that might damage your system in some way if its hacked. The PS3 is still Sony's property isn't it? Despite us buying it. Thats what the Original Xbox was anyway, in the Terms and Conditions, it says something about you have the console on lease from MS. Wouldn't surprise me if Sony do something similar.

But all i want it for is homebrew and Linux, dont really care for running pirated games. Only about 1 game every 4 months or so that i would want so i might as well buy them.

Will try and post something later on this subject.
Just trying to compile next beta, need to make a few changes.

Namely, your PSP should alocate all available memory to PSPUAE.
I now get 24MB on my GO, so any PSP with 64MB should get the same.

Have got some more speed out of PSPUAE, :).

i.e. how to get homebrew running on PSPGo! etc etc.

such T&C's are bull***t anyway, and are against consumer law - certainly in the EU.

If it was on lease, and then they deliberately damaged it, you would be able to claim it back under warranty.
