Title: UFO: Enemy Unknown RISS
Post by: delta191 on October 21, 2008, 07:25:44 PM
I have created the riss with your install disks horace. unfortunatly ufo enemy unknown runs very slow on the emu.

I prefer XCOM: Terror from the deep, it works fine on psp when converted from psx  ;)

Just uploading a Xcom: terror from the deep psx - psp conversion I created last year.

http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1662250/

Great old game, PC version was better though.

It's playable but slow scrolling across the maps landscape, I'll try it again though, see if i can make it better :)

Hello there my fellow forum chummies :)

I Have spent a little while getting to grips with PSPUAE again but this time with save states,

Great work and effort btw!!!

however under the latest PSPUAE build 0.72

CFW 4.01 MM3

UFO: enemy unkown has problems.

A corrupt microsoft logo appears and then the screen blanks with the message "your Kickstart requires 68020 cpu"

-------------

I Have loaded the config from the config folder for UFO, as well attempted to create my own. still the same failure, from wich it bombs back to DashBoard.

my kickstarts have been labled as

KICK13.rom
KICK20.rom
KICK30.rom
KICK31.rom

what if anything am i doing wrong?

hey Zetty!

sounds like it might be a .config file fault.

when you first load the state, check it's selected 68020 correctly. might be a case of changges between 0.72 and whichever it was made for (0.63?) missing something out, for example, if its currently leaving it on 68000.

pretty sure I created another UFO Riss with Horaces install disks on 0.72 and it worked ok, I'll check today, just to see if it wasn't created using 0.63 (some I did)

I tend to use the psx/psp conversions of UFO: enemy unknown and Xcom: Terror from the deep, they are both pretty good, I love the spooky music from Xcom: TFTD  :)

@Hungry H

indeed, I checked the config after loading and everthing was fine, I re-selected 68020 CPU and then the save state, alas my friend, still the same problem of "Kickstart requires a 68020 cpu" error and then bombs back to psp desktop :(... hmmmmm

@delta191

I have to admit I was impresed by both XCom's on the PSP, although I do remember the first one crashing an awefull lot on the original Playstation when you were assulting a 3 tier UFO / landing craft

still great games... if only there was a place to download psx converted games.. I have tried converting my own, but they never seem to work.... some may even get into loading only to crash halfway through.

Indeed I have created a working  Xcom: Terror from the deep PSX/PSP conversion, its on demonoid, never seen it anywhere, so I upped it, great game  ;)
Also got psx/psp Conversion of UFO:enemy unknown, that ones widely available for download, shouldn't be to hard to get hold of.

Also, if your not getting psx  conversions running, chances are your not using the correct verion of pops in your SEPLUGINS, or not enabling them in your M33 recovery menu (plugins)

Load the state, then open pspuae menu, reselect 68020 as cpu, then goto configs, and as config for "Xcom save state". then try reloading the state.

I dont bother with pops loader. If it doesnt work with current pops then it will in the future.
Zetro if your having probs with alot, then you cant be making them right. Its best to forget pops loader until you get some alot working, then you will know you have done em right.

Install disks for UFO. probably only double density, and you will need quite a bit of free ram, and some spare time to install it!
