We have released a new version of PSPUAE (Amiga Emulator for PSP), changes / improvements are listed below.
* Dumped all sound bar stereo, in an attempt to gain speed
* Corrected Makefile error, which lost us some speed
* Add CYCLE_UNIT as option, setting is either 512 (Normal) or 256 (Turbo)
* Add Chipset CYCLE_UNIT as a hidden auto switch option, that switches with CPU CYCLE_UNIT option
* Fixed screen going off center when switching off auto zoom and when selecting 4:3
* Add lock for new CPU option, stops accidently pressing option and invoking a hard reset
* Add config option checking to check cycle_unit, screen position, cpu lock and sound delay for old config files
* Add SOUND_DELAY option, this allows us to switch between 1 and 9 ms. (9 ms does speed things up, but causes sound to breakup a little)
* Add Hard Reset to Main Menu
* Add Hard Reset when PSPUAE hits "Fetch Error" (stops fetch crash/loop if Cycles set wrong after loading config)
* Altered Cycle Turbo, CPU Chipset timing to higher value (only when using Turbo Cycles)
* Dumped Sound Optimise as it did very little and caused crash
* Fix Audio Event time
* Fix Audio delay (FOL, added this as an option, so a few more FPS could be gained at the expence of the audio quality).
* Fix Home Button Exit crash, if you were in PSPUAE menu.
* When cycle unit is changed, pspuae will hard reset instantly
* If KickStart 1.3 is not found it will look for any other kickstart, with the following name format, KICK205, KICK30 etc etc. If none are found, PSPUAE will exit to PSP XMB
Remember Read the README`s.

Congrats team ! I let the good folks at psp-hacks know about this too so should be up on their site soon. Now lets give this bad boy a spin :)
-
Thanks to all involved! yay!!!
-
Looking forward to trying it out, thanks a lot for the hard work!
I read this in the announcement:
" Fixed screen going off center when switching off auto zoom and when selecting 4:3."
And I'm still experiencing this when I turn off auto zoom.. just a heads-up.

Doh, i done loads of tests with that, will have to have another look.

nice work ;) the sound is better now ,i will test it more..
keep the good work team

the screen centering issue is also still a problem when you knock off the turbo lock and switch on turbo mode, the reset starts with the screen offset to left.
all you need to do is re-center the screen after the reset, then resave the config when its centered, you have to resave the config to hold the turbo "on" setting in your config anyway, so it never really bothered me :)
I still think you should have a savestates config section in your downloads section FOL, if this is your final release then it might help new users have all the settings set to optimal config, thus doing away with problem game settings. ;)

Very cool! Thanks a lot to the team for the good work! ;D

For some reason loading the Turrican II save state thing I can't actually see the game anymore. I can hear it just fine. But nope no picture. Any suggestions?

Bust state, redownload it from site, and try the config file first, if still playing up try replacing the state.
As I done alot of my testing on TurricanII, I know it works fine.

Knowing that you talented few are tinkering away on newer and better versions of UAE for PSP, gives me a warm feeling.

Just thought I would post and say something.
People seem to be slagging 0.72 off fairly bad on some sites. Simple fact is they have no clue on what has been changed or how to change options. I have also seen posts saying 0.71 was worse than 0.70 and 0.70 was the best so far, this in its self is a joke. 0.70 was fast simply cause I made a mistake with audio event time and left 1 audio update out.
Im not going to let it bother me anymore, cause I dont care. I can play 90% of the games I like on the Amiga with decent speed and sound.
So for the people that dont like reading readme's, heres the score.
I added the change cycles, so you could in effect switch between 512 (default) and 256 (gave speed increase since 0.70). It was best to do this, so we have best of both worlds. Some games ran fine with 512 and would not run with 256, so this was the logical choice.
I also added the Restart command, so this option is fully usable. Also I found that selecting restart after every adf / state used gave a speed increase same with after pspuae starts.
FACT IS, PSPUAE is the fastest its ever been. With chilly's sound fixes, PSPUAE has never been better.
It was also sugguested, to make some config files availible. However im seriously in 2 minds wether to bother or not.

I have googled pspuae 0.72 and seen lots of comments that are less than favourable :(
The best comments reside at pspuae.com thats for sure ;)
I can see why FOL looses the will to live sometimes!
Bah, to many lazy gits who are not willing to take the time and effort to set it up properly - it seems psp owners expect the world to be served up on a gold platter sometimes :'( ::)
-
delta, please post some links... i'm sure i can do my usual routine of cutting the negativity back down to size!

Indeed, you might have to fiddle with settings to get optimum speed.
How people can moan about altering settings to get the best out of it is beyond me. Thats like saying, "right, ive loaded WinUAE, but I aint going to alter any settings, it should work perfect straight away".
Maybe they should check out your videos, of PSPUAE running, http://www.youtube.com/user/pspuae
I just cant see how we can make it plainer, everything is in the readme. It might miss the odd explanation or 2 (have to add this cause someone will always say its missing something).
I also understand that English is not everyone's language and I accept that, thats why I would love some translators. We already have a nice fellow translating to french, which im grateful for, :).
As I said though, im not bothered anymore. Im not spoon feeding people in how to alter settings, thats like me telling them how to select the START menu on a Windows system.

Got to agree with your sentiment FOL.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. some old proverb, I remember lol
think that sums it up best :)
Like wise: pspuae fullspeed and 100% amiga emulation = You can't get blood out of a stone! lol ???
I love proverbs! my favorite is: The candle that burns twice as bright, burns half as long. (horace staying up Dj-ing for 24 hrs without any sleep, it will catch up with you laddy) :o

Thank you very much FOL for this new release :)
-
The annoying part (I think) is that every game basically needs its own tweaks and settings in order to run good, so its not possible for FOL to just ship the latest release with the best settings.. so when people try it for five minutes, they will be disappointed.
I'm going to play around with 0.72 later today, but first I have to reach a save point in Wild Arms XF. :)

That is very true. I hate it when people bitch, after trying only 2 games, and not altering any settings.
I mean you could even say, whats the point in having a throttle control in UAE4ALL, I shouldnt have to alter anything. Thats deffo the wrong approach, you can enjoy alot of games, and having savestates makes it even better.
-
The point to everything is that every amiga game is different and requires setting up! It's very rare that you pop your game in the floppy drive and off you go fullspeed.
This is what everyone expects, it's origins come from other psp console emulators.
We know the amiga is quite unique and not a console! something people who are under 25 years old just dont seem to understand. ::)
FOL has given people a tool, its upto folk to try and learn how to use it.
You cant just hand someone a trowel and say, "here, plaster that wall fella" you'd end up with plaster all over the floor, uneven walls with ripples and ridges everywhere!
However if you practiced using it for a while, the results would improve :o
Finally - we know some games will always be virtually unplayable, thankfully these games equal a very small percentage of amiga games.
pspuae makes a psp a must have buy in my opinion, especially when you hook it up to a small FST and go fullscreen.

:-* I love ya' FOL ::)
I hope so...next RELEASE is coming soon ;D

correct me if I'm wrong but i've noticed recently that when you select a frameskip value that is an odd number, say 37 or 39 rather than an even value of say 36 or 38, the odd numbers seem to run faster than the even values.
is it my imagination, or has anyone else noticed? or indeed, is it already known about?
think it warrants a full investigation ???

put the LEDs on and read the numbers back. that will tell you.

Thanks for the new PSPUAE release!!
Its great to feel the 68000 Chipset still has some admirers in this generation,
Long live amiga baby!
-
Thank you for this new release FOL, I think it's not always easy to improve the emulation of amiga but you just continue, great job :)

Good choice, the original EXILE, ;).

Seems while trying to fix the download section problem, I broke the file structure of the 0.72 standard release.
I have now fixed this.
