I do not know the origin of the expression, although it has appeared in Project Gotham Racing, and its predecessor on the Dreamcast. It simply means "praise and admiration for expressing excellence in one way or another"

... hehe, dont quote me on that though - its my own interpretation  :P

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kudos

Quote[ kudos ] means fame and renown resulting from an act or achievement; by extension is often used as a praising remark. It entered English as British university slang in the early 1800s

the owrd has *nothing* to do with Project Gotham really - it's just that they happen to use the word!

Course it does.  You earn Kudos for doing particulary swish power slides which as that Wiki quote shows is kind of an 'act or achievement'.

Plus the fact I thought it was funny just to mention PGR to confuse the matter.
