Title: PSPUAE 0.71 RELEASED!!!
Post by: FOL on March 20, 2008, 03:34:55 PM
We have released a new version of PSPUAE (Amiga Emulator for PSP), changes / improvements are listed below.

* Fixed, not saving Frameskip setting (thanks to horace, for making me see the code clearly)
* Added left / right sound DWORD code (from Winuae, fixes sound not outputing correctly)
* Made sound bug from 0.70 into an option, as it gives a speed increase
* Altered Frameskip logic (to help stop frameskip going crazy)
* Altered Official Cycle Unit to improve CPU speed option
* Added Anti-Interpolation sound code (from WinUAE)
* Added Stereo Seperation option

Remember Read the README`s.

You can download it from our DOWNLOADS (http://pspuae.condor.serverpro3.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=cat3) section

I wouldnt expect it to be as fast as 0.70, simply cause fixing the bugs gave a hit on speed.

I try many configuration and Civilization, Settlers, and many other games don't work  :P :P :P Games load slow on turbo and normal mode. If turn off sound work fine.

On "PSP UAE4ALL r1" many games work fine with sound (only this screen is terible) mebe you try custom source "PSPUAE" & "PSP UAE4ALL rr"

PSPUAE - menu & options (savestate, menu, screen options)
PSP UAE4ALL r1 - emulation speed & sound (NO MENU)

If this help you and get new PSPUAE2  :) Mebe PSPUAE + PSP UAE4ALL = PSPUAE2 (spped & sound & menu) will be happy  ::) ::) ::)

Or try to include menu PSPUAE to PSP UAE4ALL r1  ;D ;D ;D
Contact with  "john4p" mebe can you help  ???

Sorry, my english is bad  :P :P :P

Hmmmm, your getting confused on what i said, do your games work fine in 070?

Yes, we can get the speed UAE4ALL has, but your happy to have an A500 only emulator? which is very unstable?

To answer your question, try WinUAE changing CPU from 68000 to 68040, and you will notice no visable difference (imho).

k, I have found a problem, and I can now achieve the same performance as 0.70 release (speed wise). However I want a break, so ill leave this for now.

maybe you have always got JIT switched on,  but this is -so- not true! the fact is many games etc wont take advantage of the extra clock time properly. Its about finding something that actually uses the extra cpu well.

i think there is also the matter of running "max" cpu that you see no difference. If you put speed to "real" you'll notice a big shift in speed on winuae with some tasks (workbench icon refreshes are a good example) , i suspect not on PSPUAE becuase it simply has got the speed to add that extra time for the spu cycles - as a result the extra cpus are there only for compatibility (68020 on pspuae is very useful in that respect)

typical QJ net. he's a moron if he cant find anything to play, since there are now a few games less than 1 fps under fullspeed.... hell, sometimes you can even -get- fullspeed!

i am not registering just to correct his idiocy. i'll let FOL deal with it

LMFAO, nice reply over at QJ. Im unable to login, lost password and they have disabled the password recovery and registration.
Anyways, im not thinking about PSPUAE for the moment, am working on my house.

Fact is, current release is slower, my fault. It will have to wait, :). As you guys know, the current test version is on par with 0.70 speed wise, and I think I need to have another look at the cycle unit. Anyways, hopefully, Ill come back to good reports on test version.

The main issue was the bug fixes from the 0.70 release FOL - (In my eyes, at least)

It warranted a new release on those issues alone buddy. You fixed the savestate bug which was a big thing for me personally. The frameskip reversion was a small problem, didn't bother me much.

As for more speed? Nah......Gissus Da good sound man, your AI sound option appears to improve sound crackle with some games, ok - not all but a step closer and I appreciate it.

Go Fix up the house and chill FOL, then if you want to take another crack at improvements, were all ready to back you up, especially that Horace Chap - you should get married - you both bitch like a couple, then kiss and make up in the chat!  :-[

Just to put the record straight. People are expecting to much from me, my changes are a stop gap, while we wait for chilly's release.

Im already making UAE do things IT SHOULD'NT, just to give you all more speed. Im sure I have squeezed as much out of PSPUAE 0.70 as I can. I say 0.70 simply cause 0.71, as explained, I missed a mistake in the makefile, which made it slightly slower).

After I have had a break, I will correct makefile (to get it up to 0.70 speed) and try tweaking the cpu code. Dont expect any more speed increases as its maxed as it is.

As I have said before, if people are going to moan about speed and say they cant play anything on it, then all I can say is good day, :)

I cocked up the make file, missed it for some reason. So the speed is slower than 0.70. Only slightly, I need to do some more tweaking, but that can wait, while I have a break.

You didn't cock up, you fixed the bugs! dont do yourself down! I'm using it happily - thanx  :-*

Well, That was a crucial mistake, :(. So I mentioned it there, as I mentioned here. I think the key is trying to get the CHIPSET balance right and the Auto Frameskip. As I have already mentioned, we are already making UAE do stuff its not ment to do. We have just been lucky it has'nt screwed to many games up (compatability wise).

Unfortunately some games didnt like the cycle unit being changed and sort of stopped working properly. This was a small price to pay for the speed increase it gave. However horace has reported games that play up, seem to work as R.I.S.S's.

Already thought of (and tried), and it doesnt work, PSPUAE just goes nuts and crashes all the time. Alot of code uses the cycle, so altering on the fly wont work.

Maybe we could use some sort of detection code, to detect and alter it all on the fly for everything that uses it, but that is beyond me, :(.

Indeed my thoughts exactly, as it would mean alot and I mean alot of pointless work.

On this subject, I have emailed Chilly, and he said he is having some problems with some hardcoded GP2X and PSP code at the moment. He is also taking a break from coding, which is fair enough.

would an A500 only version run fullspeed with good sound? probably not, so whats the point of two versions?

face it folks, the amiga is unique in its own way but also a bitch to emulate on PSP fullspeed.

Every amiga game fullspeed on PSP, errrr...........Its Never going to happen, Chilly Willy isn't God, he's a good coder, people will  still tear chunks off his release, when they see it doesn't achieve everything perfectly.

PSPUAE is still a pretty awesome achievement though  :)
I'm still busy finding games that are running well.  ;D
