Title: HELP: does http://www.dream17.co.uk/ games work on PSPUAE?
Post by: andrewwan1980 on 17 Oct, 2007, 04:40 PM
I am trying to run the Alien Breed games from http://www.dream17.co.uk/ on PSPUAE and each one I get just displays a black screen with a red bordered box with the text, "Press the left mouse button. Error."

Does anyone know how to get the http://www.dream17.co.uk/ games working under PSPUAE?

hmmmm, its not a PSPUAE fault, it has to be your config. Your not setting it up right, as your talking about the guru meditation screen, which is the Amiga Debug info, when it crashes.

All AlienBreed games are in downloads section. Under CD32 & A.

EDIT:- The only way they wouldnt work is;

A) You have the wrong setup
or
B) You are trying to use the AGA ADF files, IPF files or CD32 files

He even clearly states he aint uploading the OCS / ECS versions, which might also explain the crash, if you were trying to load the AGA version. You see for AGA, you need an extra CPU, which is disabled as AGA doesnt work. And yes I have tried a few times to get AGA working, and have had no joy to date.

wtf are you talking about?  AGA will NOT run with pspuae as the graphics chip has not been emulated!

...  there are some rare instances tho that a game is titled as AGA but runs fine on an A500+ :>  - there was that bomberman clone that worked fine on my system

"Deluxe Galaga AGA"  obviously isnt really AGA.... it must just need a higher kickstart / more memory / better processor

Easy guys, our friend anemos, might have been misunderstood to a certain extent. Remember his native language isnt English, so its harder for him to explain what he means.

It is true though that alot of games were labeled AGA, but ran fine on ECS Chipset.

I find it amusing that certain games are labelled AGA and are such an eyesore
yes

I'm aiming that comment at Speedball 2 and anything AGA from the bitmaps  ;D

You guys say AGA games won't run on PSPUAE. What about CD32 version of Alien Breed 2? Since we got CD32 controller buttons I assume CD32 Alien Breed 2 should run on PSPUAE?

i think its in the downloads section under "cd32" - most cd32 dont actually use AGA (apparently)

Horace is correct, alot of games were just altered for CD32 controller and setpatch to say no aga (means it will run the chipset as ecs), then just slapped on CD.
