Title: Site Problems
Post by: FOL on January 09, 2010, 05:44:59 PM
It seems the session table was corrupt, I have now sorted it and its all working fine.

THe server issues should now once and for all be sorted. The backup drive was dodgy and it was dumping stuff into the live drive. This was causing all the iisues.

Yep, :).

We are going to see how it goes, before deciding on maybe moving me to a another server.
Alot of my sites have hardcoded urls etc etc. This was all done before I taught myself and learnt how to do tidy code and doing it properly, ;).

I aint had time to sort anything, cause of all these problems. Think I missed the coding competition, aint even had chance to get that sorted, :(.

I don't blame you for the hard-coded URI's, you're using SMF ;)

So you have found a new (hopefully faster) server? I'll skip my offer then. But I'm curious to know how the site is being built - completely custom? Drupal? Joomla? Wordpress? phpBB?

Or SMF again =\

sorry, but what? lol.

come strolling in here and on a first-post criticise for using SMF?! Great way to introduce yourself!

I dont know much on the topic, but i can guarentee you there will be not changes to what is used if there isnt an easy way of transfering and changing all the current site data over to something else.

i've been helping run this site for several years now, and i can tell you, in its current form it does exactly what we need it to, so i'm not sure what you've got against SMF JonusC.

I suspect he knows just a bit more about this sort of thing than you horace, no offence. I think this is anemos's friend who offered to host us, so I would guess he knows a fair bit about this web malarky. Thank for the offer JonusC, but it looks like we are OK for now. :)

Im sorry skate, but horace is right. I dont think its Anemos's friend as I know him and he would never be this rude.

JonusC seems to be a joomla fanboy, as he has made a few things for joomla (from the looks of it). It doesnt make him god on everything internet.
Hardcoding has nothing to do with SMF, this site is fine.

I was more concerned with the very first sites I made (like 8 years ago). I taught myself HTML, PHP etc etc, so I made mistakes and then learnt from them.
Anyway, the server is moved and all sorted now.

I have used joomla and personally, I thought it was badly laid out and very confusing. Same for PHPBB, that sucked even worse.
