Title: Xmas Films
Post by: Hungry Horace on December 18, 2009, 09:42:38 PM

My brother religiously watches the original Die Hard every Christmas - it's his favourite "xmas film" and i think I may watch it on BluRay this year at some point.

Most years, i will watch Gremlins, which, although somewhat dark, is one of my top xmas films. This year i've decided to watch a couple of others which i havent watched for years instead:

- Scrooged  - the christmas carol tale, but with Bill Murray :)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096061/

i am saving this one until 1/2 days before xmas :D

- John Carpenter's The Thing - technically not a christmas story, but it's a classic and has lots of snow!!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084787/

Just watched this and it's as fantastic as ever,  a really good sci-fi thriller, and one of Carpenter's finest.

what will everyone else be watching this year, and what are your favourite xmas films?

I always watched jason and the argonauts, it was on every christmas eve when i was a kid, Xmas doesn't seem the same if I dont watch it, the climatic skeleton fight on the cliffs was always fantastic! lol

A good alternative was clash of the titans, with the Medusa battle.....had me glued to the seat as a child.
Any classic Ray Harryhausen - Special Effects movie! always satisfied my fat appetite at Xmas!

For me, I usually watch National Lampoon Christmas Vacation, Dumb & Dumber and various other comedies with the family.

Plus any new xmas films kicking around on sky. I like to watch films that make me laugh or feel good at this time of year.

I'm not much for movies, really.

Home Alone 2 is pretty fun to watch, though. No problem catching it, as it seems to air all the time around Christmas here.
