For people who have upgraded to 3.02 OE - A, then PSPUAE no longer works in the GAME folder, you need move it to the GAME150 folder, or switch to 1.50 Kernel Mode in the Recovery menu.
-
yawn. it seems lke there's a new "SE" out every ten minutes... i'm happy with 3.02 devhooked thanks.
maybe when sony stop updating the firmware there genuinely will be a decent "SE" worth having .... until then, i'm playng it safe on the classic 1.5 thanks.

Dont know what to say, you always do this, lol.
This is for people who have upgraded, im telling them how they can get PSPUAE running, if they are using the 2.71SE EBOOT.
As for other comment, think you need to check out all the features first, cant dismiss it.
-
as i've just explained in chat, the comment was only here because this is the only thread discussing the new 3.02 SE/ whatever firmware.
i do -know- it's about running PSPUAE on said firmware, but i always discuss topics in a "round about" fashion anyway.... didnt realise it was such a problem?
REGARDLESS of features, my point was that i wont do such an upgrade untl such a point as nothing that "beats" it -can- come along.... which would mean the latest firmware (for which sony never release an update) being released in SE form....
this, imho may take many years, and i dont fancy flashing my PSP 15-20 times between now and then, thats all.
-

damn right, hes scared of change :-)
I like the idea of having devhook and homebrew in one nifty package, and having a piece of homebrew in a different directory (game150) is no work around, its just for kxploited 1.5 compat homebrew, whereas the "pure" homebrew (single folder) stuff goes in the game directory.
Can anyone say if theres any noticeable speed increase / decrease whilst using this firmware with any emulators? I'd like to know - if theres no slow-down I'm gonna give it a go.
IMO theres a few reasons why Id want to upgrade
1- Anti bricking protection
2- Easily customisable (esp now- custom load vids etc with no worries of brick)
3- Can turn off the UMD autoload (annoying with 1.5)
4- Dont have to start Devhook everytime you want to play a new game (or backup.... shhchh!)
5- Save lots of time buggering around
The only thing I dont want is a speed decrease! :E

Your first point, you obviously didnt read my post right, I didnt say anything about the KXploited Eboot, I was talking about the "pure Homebrew" as you call it, stick the single folder in the GAME150 folder, or just tell the psp that the game folder is 150. Until I look into the 3.02 kernel, then this is the best way to get it running.
As for speed decrease, there aint any that I have seen, the only speed decrease I have seen is with gta and eloader exploit, on older firmware versions, when using PSPUAE.
Last thing, it has alot more interesting features EmuChicken, like the button swapper, ;). As for your comment, saying Horace is scared of change, thats a bit harsh, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Anyways, this post in reply to Emu`s post, please can we drop this now, this was only ment as a post to help people to get PSPUAE running with it, not a discussion on whether its crap or not. I only say this, as this thread is going way off now, and it will only continue to do so, :(.
-
sorry FOL, but a couple of things...
firstly, the title of the thread is " 3.02 OE - A Custom Firmware" and not "running pspuae on 3.02 OE" .... i cant see why you'd be so against a discussion on the topic? i'm sure if anyone has a problem with it and pspuae, they will post.
secondly, i'm tired of it being assumed that because i wont install a custom frmware, that my view of it is "it's crap" ... because ths ISNT the case. i dont doubt it has a lot of good features, but as can be seen from my post, i've mentioned MY reasons for not wanting to install it and it's not that i'm "scared of change".
what works for you works, and in my case i feel happy with 1.5+devhook and secure in the knowledge i can have the latest updates wthout the need for flashing... my only major problem wth any of the SE / OE firmwares is that they get replaced by a newer version, which means another flash for every release. This is why i would rather wait, and not because i think the OE firmware itself is crap.

oh
I'm drunk and playing card games
with lots of japanese girls
this should be fun

This is getting all out of control, The only thing I will say is, not every release means FLASHING. So lets just leave this, you did explain. As I said, forget the title, read the post, it wasnt ment as a discussion on the actual firmware. I have renamed it, to stop any further confusion.

This is getting all out of control,
ever the melodramatic ::)
a few words said wont kill anyone!! :D ;)

Tomb Raider, Wipe Out 2097 and Masters of Teras Kasi would be pretty sweet.
hell, i mght even play The Phantom Menace if i fancy a laugh.
unless of course.... someone devhooks the 3.02 OE ;)

I dont think the 2.71SE was devhooked...
but the whole 3.02OAB will also be built upon the 1.5 system, if you hit R I think whilst booting you get a menu to help you unbrick n stuff like that (recovery menu).... after this firmware, theres gonna be no reason at all to own 1.5 anymore! :p .... devhooks already built into 3.02OAB ... isos+homebrew+psx+webbrowsers+music stuff etc
-
I dont think the 2.71SE was devhooked...
true, but it doesnt mean it couldnt happen. ;)

again true, but it's still a hack, and therefore not everyone will be happy to just "bung it on" as it were. i am not the only person in the world who thinks "it works, i dont want to f*** with it." ::)

Hi all,
I bought my PSP (2.01, G on box) one week ago, with intention most of all to have all my emulators on a portable device..in last week there was the 3.02 (A and B) release that is really amazing, installed and working perfect, all advantages of 1.5 firmware in a modern one, easy steps to do all the downgrade etc..
UAE and Amiga is the first thing I tried...I have now it running among with C64, NeoGeo, Capcom (all excellent at fullspeed and 16:9), doom-quake-etc.., plus apps...I have now to install sega and snes emus!
I have a QUESTION about pspuae: I read all posts about optimizing performances via configurations, I tried something and the main problem remains mainly audio (but I have to try something more). I would like to know if pspuae work at 222 or 333 cpu speed (like other emulators and homebrews already do). If not, there's a way or support to use some plugin (prx) of new 3.02 fw to make this possible? Anyone tried this and noticed eventually some performance difference? It seems to me that in some games an overclocked cpu working could improve that little needed to have fullspeed games running.
Any hint?

Thanks for quick reply, I didn't know it was already working at 33mhz (but I could imagine).
I'm sure we'll see the impossible made also for amiga on psp .. I'm a *nix system administrator as dayjob, I have to say I'm quite impressed by the quality and skills of people on the psp 'underground' scene, it's just incredible the quantity and quality of things happening on this machine, and it's also surprising to know so many people have this beauty without knowing (or with still 'locked' fws) all the things they can do with this handheld dream machine.
I've just installed snes and genesis emulators...after seeing the incredible work on capcom and neogeo (they are better than the ones on my Mac Osx), I'm really waiting for the definitive portable amiga emulator.
At the moment I'm just reading something on qj about dev on psp, I'd like to join with some core code or maybe organizing releases and installers also for mac.
For now, just waiting and trying again with some configurations to get things better on pspuae..

No, problems, if you want, take a look at the save states, they might be old, but the new 1`s will come with a config file, so they are setup to get the best speed possable with the current release. The new states should go online New Years (depending on if I can stay off Command and Conquer, on the PS1Emu on 3.02 OE - B) and StarTrek Legacy, ;).
-
Some Pics, of PSX Emu in action, they dont do it justice though.
-
:o *foams at mouth*
I got Front mission 3 working on the PSP... and guess what ... I GOT IT TO CRASH!! ... .first robot I beat, craasssshh! ... However the emulation was perfect until this moment!
STILL, cant wait for the compression routines to be cracked - then we wont be stuck wtih 700mb isos that could be shrunk to 80mb (Vagrant Story)... but now, the PSP has most the decent RPGs on the market (PSX/ SNES etc)... woo!
-
Front - mission 3?, is that an amiga game or something.
I agree with horace about waiting, I can't be bothered to flash my psp every few days for a new extra feature. I waited until se-c was finished cause I knew that would be the last one for a while, but thinking about it now, I might install OE when I get back home cause I have a few ps1 games on disc I would like to try out(FF7, Thrasher's Skate & Destroy, WormsWP). There is alot of tools and extras to download though, i wish someone would just put all the latest versions into a pack to download, which might be around already, but I cant find it.
-
If you want I can compile all my emulators I have installed at the moment, newest + 1.0v homebrew so a really clean install :-D
-
umm, i dont need emulators or homebrew, just a pack containing all files needed to run ps1 games.
Like the latest custom firmware, dont worry about it for now thought.
Cheers anyway

i think go to new 3.02 OE - A and 3.02 OE - B one quest.. working fine? or wait for something new upgrade?

Really, i havent heard of any problems, people complain they dont understand the readme, but you need to read between the lines as it were, you cant use the network or UMD update, you have to use the recovery mode to go back to 1.50.
-
Yeah just remember to use the installer to put recovery into ms/psp/game as the flash of 3.02 oe does not put it in their automatically. You guys probably know that anyway!!
-
3.03 OE-A is out ;D
-
3.03 OE-A is out ;D
