From your first bit of hardware up to your current setup.
I'm just interested in knowing what hardware you peeps on this forum have owned over time.
I'll kick things off with my list (and its not a game of one-upmanship so no pretending to have owned hardware just to make your list the biggest ;) )
Binatone TV Master 4 + 2 with Light gun
Spectrum 48k (rubber keyed)
Amiga A500
NES
Megadrive & Mega CD
Playstation
Amiga A1200
Dreamcast
N64
X-Box
PSP
3 different PC setups. PII 500, PIII 800 and AMD 64 3500+ (current system).
That's pretty much the order I got them and with the exclusion of the Megadrive & CD (given to a cousin) I still have them in working order.
Remember, keep it to hardware you have owned and not ones your mates have owned and you played on.
<edit> Crud, can't believe I forgot that I also own a DC and N64.
Heres mine.

Oh, do i have to, means I have to tidy the cables and dust off the motherboard, ;). I only wanted a 500 Watt PSU, so i bought the case just because of that, lol.
Also, I think we are dragging this off topic, sorry, Para.
All threads are meant to go off-topic at some point, its the nature of a forum to do so ;D
we can delete off-topic post later..
Nah, off-topic can be as much fun as the topic being discussed. Plus I'm sure someone will post their hardware history at some point to drag in back into line.
Should mention that I edited my post to include the Dreamcast and N64 yeasterday as I totally forgot I own them (due to the fact I very rarely play them).
it occureed to me that i didnt really play games on my first PC.... only The Sims for a bit. (so should it really be in my "gaming history"
only reason i started playing on my current one was because i got a PS2 pad -> USB convertor for emualtion use.
also i should have added: Game & Watch: Donkey Kong Jr at the beginning.
That reminds me I had a snes for my 16 birthday, with Starfox, which has to be my favorite game

my speccy +3 power supply just died.... so i trundled into the loft to look for the lost one from my +2A.
whilst scavenging through a few boxes... "ooh look, an a500 in little bits, and a cd32 in little bits - must be my old broken one"
"but what's this?? another cd32? all together and looking tidy?"
lo and behold, there it is. now tested and fully functioning. My mum's pleased. the motor on hers is getting dodgy and she has to rest something on the top to make it spin. now she has a spare, though i've told here not to use it until the current one no longer loads (at which point i'll repair it for her)
quite a nice little find. still, i need to get back up there and look for that +2A PSU....
edit:
ok, this is getting wierd now. i've just found ANOTHER Cd32. again, it seems to work fine.
people really must have abanonded a lot of computers with me. either that or they are multplying.

I've still got the chip... I stripped it for parts a couple decades ago. 8)
2600XT??
Dont you mean a 9600XT? ... I duno ;D
My lil history...
Atari 800XL from 1987 till 1992 when I sold it and bought PC 286-16, 1Mb, 40MB HDD, VGA... even though I always wanted Atari ST or Amiga...
In 1998 traded 2 CDs of N64 roms for Atari STE + monitor ;) Then discovered it had broken TV modulator... :( Went into trash a few years ago.
Last year I finally bought A1200HD 540MB HDD with M-tek 030@28MHz turbo card and additional 4MB ram. Upgraded HDD to 4GB and CompactFlash PCMCIA card. Nice machine... ;D That I only recently sold. I don't have the space nor the time >:(
From 1996 I'm in the emulation scene... those were the days when PCs weren't powerful enough to run emulators full speed. Of course that slowly changed.
I actually never owned any strictly gaming machine (SNES, PSX...) and only now considering buying PSP but mainly for emulation :D
Now I have two PCs and a notebook (and maybe soon an Asus Eee PC http://wiki.eeeuser.com/eee_pc_701 (http://wiki.eeeuser.com/eee_pc_701))
1. work/games/emus: WinXP, Athlon X2 3800+ @ 2800MHz, 2GB DDR, 8800GTS, 1.5TB HDD & Speedlink Competition Pro USB ;)
2. retro for DOS and Win98 games only: Win98SE, Intel P3-866MHz, 192MB SDR, Voodoo 3 3000 PCI + GF 4200Ti AGP, 80GB HDD, AWE64
I see some of you had/have many great gaming machines :)
bye
Looking at everyone's list I'm the only one sad enough to have owned a Commodore plus 4! lol
... weren't they pretty crap?

... weren't they pretty crap?
subject to opinon. :P
for example, in my opinion the c64 was crap.... apart from the SID chip.
doesnt stop lots of people thinking otherwise though.
im surprised you didnt own a Vic20 baboon... :o
Well I guess you've got to start somewhere. ;D
At the time (I was v young then) I thought it was an excellent machine. The basic games that I had kept me quite amused.
I tried the Plus4 emulator that came out on the psp a while ago thinking it would relight my fond memories... unfortunetly it did the opposite as all the games really did seem and play awful (well apart from a treasure island adventure game). lol
I'm glad my follow up machine was the specky though... many happy times on that old machine. :) Its funny though cause I remember that at the time (around xmas) I originally wanted a C64. All my mates had them and they just seemed to be excellent machines.
Games like Zaxon, Street Fighter 1, Creatures, Emlyn Hughes, Barbarian etc just looked and played amazing on the C64. When I went with my parents to get one they had for some reason all been recalled from all the shops in my area so I couldnt get one. I ended up getting my trusty ZX+2 instead and thankfully it worked out and I realised that it was the better of the two. :)
I used to love getting new specky games on tape for around £1.99 back in the day. :) I remember the only misleading thing on the games covers though was that most of the time the screen shots were taking from either PC's or Amigas or something as the monochrome style graphics never did look as good. lol
How things have changed now a days. Ahhhh the memories. :'(
did the same with my amstrad cpc464 :>
... it prolly wasnt the most fluid of the machines at the time, but it looked the best - lol :> .. and theres a damn good emulator on the psp now, caprice32 thingy on the psp- briilliant... was playing beach head yesterday ... got further than I ever have... and uh, its not as good as i remember it! :-[
