AIAB Release Notes (version 2000r8) 23/05/00
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~			~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~			    			~~~~~~~~
Heres a great list of everything thats new in this release, starting with the coolest:
ADDED:   Scalos - *the* Workbench replacement.  SatanicDreams have allowed me to use Scalos
~~~~~    in the AIAB package, so big thanks to them.  It would be pointless of me to try &
         sumarise all the features here....oh sod it, I cant help myself:

    		- 99.9% Workbench reaplacement.
    		- complete Multitasking, each window has its own Task
    		- Icon-Datatypes System with NewIcon Support [fast!]
    		- CybergraphX and 24bit Datatypes Support
    		- each window may have its own background-Pattern
    		- automatic windows contents refresh
    		- editable menus (with ToolsDaemon and Parm Import)
    		- new Palette and Pattern Preferences programs
    		- optimized pattern-routine with Scaling
    		- configurable Popup-Menus
    		- big API and PlugIn System

		and much more ...

	   Basically, what all this means is that Workbench feels alot quicker, (try opening
	   a window with lots of icons in it and compare the speed with Workbench), more
	   configurable, and generally just 'nicer' - its certainly a better solution than
	   Amiga INC's own WB3.5 (in my opinion), not least because its free!

	   Scalos is setup to use MUI as the default GUI for most Workbench tasks, so if have
	   a registered MUI.key (for v3.8), copy it to Workbench:S/ and things will look even
	   better!

	   For more information on Scalos, just read the AmigaGuide file in the 'Docs box',
	   or check out the offifical Scalos website at: http://scalos.satanicdreams.com

REMOVED: The FastIprefs package. This used to fix the MagicWB pens, allowing ScreenTab
~~~~~~~  images to be shown quickly and properly.  FastIprefs was also supposed to fix bugs
         and was better for GFX-cards.  However now that Scalos is being used, FastIprefs is
         no longer required.  You may notice that background patterns take a little longer
         to load in - the developers know about this and promise to speed it up soon.
         Anyway, say goodbye to:
					  c:FastIprefs
					  prefs:WBpattern
					  libs:notifyintuition.library			 (saving 41k)
ADDED:   A really cool icon for your Windows desktop, from Guy Hancock - Cheers Guy!
~~~~~

ADDED: A one second wait command to s:AIAB-startup, in a bid to prevent Arexx crashes on
~~~~~    bootup.  I dont know if this will have an effect, but its worth a crack....
CHANGED: The default position/size of the Shell (again), so that its a more sensible size
~~~~~~~  for most operations.  The current directory is now displayed in the Shell window
         title too, which is pretty nifty (this was actually in r7, but went undocumented).

CHANGED: DirScanner is now the default file-finder, and not EasyFind. Thanks to Hynek
~~~~~~~  Schlawack for letting me use this versatile little programme.
REMOVED: The 'Dopus_Icon' module.  Now that Scalos is being used, I can use its own Icon
~~~~~~~  information requestor, and reduce the archive filesize in the process!  Big thanks
         to Christoph Gutjahr for making the ~*.info Arexx script!

CHANGED: The way DOPUS deals with LHA/LZX/ZIP archives. Double clicking an archive will
~~~~~~~  still load it into WizARC, however selecting an archive(s) and clicking the "Arc
         Ext." button will extract the archive with the relevant command (whereas before
         LZX was always used).  The 'Click-M-Click' function is also now available, meaning
         you only need to click an archive and then the destination window to extract it.
         Its also possible to list the contents of an archive by selecting it, then clicking
         the 'Read' button.  Thanks to Ian Lightbody for getting onto me about this ;)
ADDED:   'ENVARC:sys/def_iconify.info' used by Scalos when Workbench windows are iconified.
~~~~~    Thanks to someone in the Scalos mailing list for answering my query on this.

ADDED: Entries in the 'Tools' right-mouse button menu for useful programmes. This is made
~~~~~    possible thanks to the configurable menu functionality provided by Scalos, so feel
         free to add more if you need to.  I've also added an 'Open with' sub-menu for tool/
         project icons - again, more entries can be added if required.  [Ian Lightbody]
ADDED:   SysSpeed modules created by AIAB users.  Yup, thats right folks, now you can compare
~~~~~    the speed of WinUAE on your PC with that of a Celaron, PIII or AMD Athlon!  Thanks
         to those people who sent me their SysSpeed test results!

UPDATED: The 'Welcome.guide' which displays when AIAB is booted for the first time. The
~~~~~~~  guide now has links to folders/programmes (this took ages!), and has a new page on
         how to use SysSpeed to benchmark your 'Amiga'.
ADDED:   Peter Hutchinson's lovely "Workbench 3.1 Guide" to the 'Docs box'.  I've also added
~~~~~    a reference to this in my "AIAB Welcome Guide", so make sure you check it out!

REMOVED: c:MMUcode - This was used by JST to perform debugging funtionality with certain
~~~~~~~  HD-installers.  However, since MMU support is not available in WinUAE (eg: 68030
         CPU emulation), it was just wasting space so has been deleted.
UPDATED: c:JST + C:OSemu.400							        (upto version 3.2d)
~~~~~~~  c:VersionWB								        (upto version 2.15)
         c:WHDload	(no more 'SetCACR' problems!) (upto version 11.2)
         libs:identify.library							  (upto version 12.0)

Extra Info:
~~~~~~~~~~
1.	As with the initial release, this requires a Workbench 3.x ADF in order for certain
	non-distributable files to be made available - so please, dont click "Cancel" on the
	requestor!
	Its always best to use the most recent Kickstart ROM and Workbench ADF (eg: v3.1),
	with AIAB, but if you only have the old v3.0 files dont worry; other than a slight
	glitch with the arrow-gadgets in Multiview, (due to a bug with OS3.0), there are no
	noticable differences.
	For information regarding how, when, and where to insert the Workbench ADF, Please
	check the readme in this archive, or www.emuunlim.com/aiab/installing/index.html
2.	The 'AmigaInABox' package should only be available from the official AIAB website
	at http://www.emuunlim.com/aiab.  I take a very dim view of people selling AIAB CD's
	without asking me, especially when the package is intended to be non-profit making
	and available for free.
3.	Inclusion of the commercial version of Directory Opus 4 in this archive is provided
	under explicit licence from GPSoftware.  See  http://www.gpsoft.com.au/ for details.
